About Diabetes and CBD
Diabetes refers to a condition in which the body is unable to properly process sugar for energy. This in turn can cause high blood glucose and blood sugar levels which can result in serious health hazards such as nerve damage, eye problems, heart disease and even stroke, as blood vessels might get clotted. Diabetes is typically categorized in two types:.
Type I Diabetes
Type I diabetes is an autoimmune disorder where the body attacks insulin producing cells. Type I diabetes is thought to be genetic and can be treated with insulin.
Type II Diabetes
Type II diabetes, formerly known as adult-onset diabetes, is often associated with obesity and characterized by high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and relative lack of insulin.
Common symptoms of diabetes
People with diabetes typically suffer from the following symptoms:
Excessive thirst and hunger
Frequent urination from urinary tract infections or kidney problems
Weight loss or gain
Fatigue and irritability
Slow-healing wounds and skin infections
Darkening of skin in areas of body creases
Breath odor that is fruity, sweet, or an acetone-like
Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
How CBD works against Diabetes
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a vital role in hunger signals and insulin regulation. Scientist also think that an overactive ECS plays a role in obesity and especially in the development of type II diabetes. Thanks to the effects of CBD and the benefits of CBD oil on the ECS and receptors, scientists hypothesize that medical marijuana in general and CBD in particular can help people with both type I & type II diabetes. Please note that none of the research is currently supported by clinical trials, whether in the United States or any other country.
1) Its ability to control hyperglycemia
2) Its ability to reduce pancreatic inflammation
Beta cells in the pancreas are responsible for insulin secretion. Many diabetics suffer from pancreatic inflammation due to the destruction of these insulin-producing cells caused by an invasion of immune cells. CBD is shown to reduce pancreatic inflammation, helping to regulate hyperglycemic blood levels.
